The Accounting Manager will oversee all financial and accounting activities will perform the functions that ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete and in accordance with GAAP.  The individual will contribute to the development and implementation of both short-term and long-term plans and strategies. The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining a sound control environment that provides for the safeguarding of assets and the reliability of financial records.  This position requires an excellent understanding of manufacturing and involves supervision over general accounting, cost accounting, AP, and AR. The position requires someone who is comfortable in the role of a “hands on” manager.  The Accounting Manager reports to the Controller.


  1. Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  2. Completes the annual financial budget for their facility and measures results against the budget
  3. Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results
  4. Ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end close; works closely with the outside auditing firm during the annual audit
  5. Ensures that adequate accounting and financial internal controls have been established and are being followed
  6. Supports Sales & Marketing and Production with customer and product profitability analysis
  7. Maintains proper valuation of inventory, ensuring that obsolete and slow moving items are tracked and addressed
  8. Provides accurate and interpretive reporting on sales volume, manufacturing costs, distribution costs and overhead allocations. Ability to analyze and communicate cost drivers to support improvement in productivity and profitability
  9. Performs other duties as assigned



  1. Monitoring compliance with Company policies
  2. Accelerating cash receipts and controlling disbursements
  3. Establishing and maintaining credit and collection procedures
  4. Occasional daily commuting to the Spaulding Composites (Rochester, NH) location is required



Minimum Required:


  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance.  MBA, CMA or  CPA a plus
  • 10 plus years of experience in accounting 
  • A minimum of five years of experience with similar size manufacturing company
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Excellent written and oral communication, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees within the organization
  • Proficient Microsoft Office; high level of proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems as part of an MRP system



  •  Experience in MRP Implementation
  • Knowledge of & experience with ISO 9000
