The Production Planner reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for the accuracy and management of job orders and item masters. Also responsible for purchasing low level items such as office supplies and the daily management of Caterpillar orders received through EDI.
Daily review and closing of job orders.
Ongoing management of job orders for accuracy and investigation of job variances.
Creating and updating item masters to ensure accuracy.
Review requisitions and ensure accuracy before purchase order generation. Communicate effectively with the requestor when information is inaccurate.
Ensure purchase orders are processed in a timely manner to meet the demands of all company departments. This includes the using of web portals.
Maintain accurate purchase order dates through daily follow up of past due purchase orders and upcoming deliveries.
Monitor the on time delivery of suppliers and report issues and concerns immediately to the Purchasing Manager.
Process the Caterpillar account through daily processing of orders and effective communication back to the Materials Department, Customer Service and the customer site buyer(s) as required.
Other duties as assigned by the materials management team.
Experience and Requirements:
Some experience in a production planning role within a manufacturing environment preferred.
Some experience with purchasing preferred.
Must be able to work effectively with all departments throughout the organization.
Must have a professional phone manner and be able to work effectively with suppliers and customers.
Must be able to work independently, have good time management skills and demonstrate initiative.
Must be results oriented and demonstrate a high level of organization and follow through.
Must have good math skills and the ability analyze data.
Must have good written and oral skills.
